What BU Honor Student Is About: Trying to Pay Off Student Loans

Hi! My name is Kalee Sorey, and I am a 20-year-old marketing major at Belmont University. Belmont’s Massey College of Business is one of the best programs in the nation and I cannot see myself anywhere else. The $12,000 tuition, however, never rests easy on me regardless of how close I am to graduating.

I have grown up in a humble, middle-class family; my dad is a small business owner and my mom is a math teacher. A trip to the grocery store, mall, or restaurant ALWAYS involved a coupon and often times a piggy bank with all of our spare change. Therefore, I don’t know what $46,000 (the approximate amount of my student loans) looks like or how I will ever begin to pay it back 6-months after graduation. I know my situation is not uncommon, but my method to overcome it is truly unique– I will share my life in coupons and offer advertisements, auctions, and services to pay off my debt.
